The Cousins and Higher Art Forms

Image
The cousins arrived Thursday at 11:30 and we were all glad to see them. Brian and Molly waited with bated breath on the front porch for them to pull in the drive. Note the welcome sign on the front door. They were so happy and the drama is just beginning. As you can well imagine, things took a turn toward the even more dramatic as the make-up artist began her magic back stage. The actors formed a union and made me (the producer) sign a contract. As a result, the production won't be available for another week; unless you can find the people who hacked Sony. Then you might get a pirated release.  Meanwhile, there was plenty of time for some fun board games. And for the most part, everybody played nicely together. Then it was off to dinner at Tapatio for Mexican food including fresh guacamole prepared at our table and a well-deserved pina colada for Grandad. After dinner, there was the usual bedtime rucus but lights were out by 10p.   ...

Brian snags a wild pitch Here's Brian at bat. Poor Molly did her best to keep herself entertained through endless walks, and innings. Mercifully, they called this game at exactly two hours.

x . We had a great time at the NC Art Museum. I would never have thought Brian would enjoy and art museum but this one had something for everyone... including dogs and hiking trails. In addition, there was plenty of cool art to see like the giant heads and the flying plane made out of butterflies.

Under Control by a Nine-Year-Old

There's nothing like watching a movie and not being in control. Do you see a pause or play button on this remote?  Yep, neither did I. Here we are yesterday making tie-dye T-shirts.  It's a different process using magic markers then letting the dye run by spraying alcohol on the shirt. As of this morning, Mommy's car still smelled like rubbing alcohol.

Slowing Down on Sunday

Went to Home Depot to get some supplies, picked up a DVD "Sing" and we went to the Library to see some magic.  This guy was terrific. He even managed to get himself inside a balloon on stage.  We ran into Ben Blanchard at the same show. Grandma and Toby went head-to-head in a winner-take-all game of Boggle just before dinner.  When the smoke cleared I don't think there was a clear winner. Toby appeared to have more words, but several of them could not be found in a dictionary.

First Day on the job

So, after many, many years, we've back in the role as parents. (temporarily) So, Mom and Dad and the other grandparents are in Europe while we plan to have 2 weeks of solid fun with the grands. We started off with a presentation on dolphins by Molly.. Yesterday, we dropped Mom and Dad at the airport and the fun began. We cooked a simple dinner of breaded dinner of chicken nuggets and headed off to the Little League field. Brian did us proud. He was the lead-off hitter and got a single to start the game. As the game wore on, it got darker and and more competitive too. It was tied most of the innings. Then two merciful things happened. Our team scored 5 runs in the top of the sixth and our relief pitcher closed it out by striking out 3 out of 4 batters in the bottom of the sixth. Molly had fun during the game by climbing this giant mound of sand. Here's the queen of the hill. The next morning (Saturday) we went to the Farmer's Market and...
